You should have brought sanitizer with you to school Fardreamer . Actually, I probably would have never thought of that back in high school, but I was like you. I was constantly worried about my hands being clean and acne breakouts back in high school.

Maybe if I had known stuff like Purell existed back in the late 1970s, I would have at least tried that.

My outbreaks were minor compared to other students I knew. The most serious one I ever had was in 8th grade, when I had a "bridge" of pimples and blackheads that arced over my nose and both cheeks, with the big ones right in the middle.

I would actually much rather use a hand sanitizer in a public restroom than wash my hands, because when you wash your hands you risk picking up even more germs on the door, faucet, soap dispenser, and paper towel dispenser.

Washing your hands is probably one of the top ways to prevent acne. When your hands get germs and and other oily substances on them touching your face just transfers those germs and substances there. I always wash my hands every few hours and try not to touch my face to much but sometimes I cannot stop myself from scratching a spot or leaning against my hand.

Washing Hands = Good Habit.

I mostly use hand sanitizer because I find it really helps with keeping your hands clean; even more than washing them. I will wash my hands several times a day so hopefully that will prevent any more acne.

Now, of course, I know about hand sanitizers like Purell, so I'd use that. But back in the day - and no, dinosaurs didn't walk the earth when I was a teen! - I had to use the old wash-your-hands tech available.

I just bought some Purell hand sanitizer yesterday. I have never really used hand soaps. I will let you know how that goes.

i found an article and thought this would be helpful:

h1>How to Properly Wash Your Face

Face washing is often the core of beautiful face. Before you apply all those cosmetics or medications for your acne, experts always tell you to wash your face.

Cleaning is essential in maintaining beautiful and healthy skin. And since we always want to put our “best face forward,” here are several tips that we compiled on how to properly wash your face.

Remove every trace of make-up/cosmetic on your face. Use cotton ball and moisturizing cream to avoid damaging your skin.

Use lukewarm water. Avoid using too hot and too cold water that can dry out your skin. This will also open the pores for deeper cleansing.

Avoid strong or harsh soaps/ cleansers. Strong soaps can dry your skin and strip off natural lipids. Choose soap that are mild if you prefer soap, or you can always choose cleansers that are soap- free, non- comedogenic, and mild like Cetaphil, Burt Bee’s or Neutrogena.

Massage face by gently rotating upwards your middle ring and pinky fingers. Remember that hard rubbing will actually do more harm than good.

Rinse face well to remove all residue of soap or cleanser. Residues left behind can actually clog your pores. Facial cleansers can leave an invisible residue behind which can clog your pores. Rinse three times, then rinse again.

Pat dry with soft, non- abrasive towel. Never ever rub your face.

Use an alcohol- free toner on your face. It should make your face feel smooth and refreshed. Astringents and toners with glycolic or alpha hydroxy acids work the best for toning the face. These acids actually can reduce the pore size, and help avoid ingrown hairs. They are aggressive and have quick results. Remember to look for a product that is not photosensitive (sensitive to light).

Finish off with moisturizer to replenish the natural oils that has been lost. Moisturizing is a necessity. Again, the product with the least amount of chemical additives is the best. Always use a light moisturizer on your face after cleansing. For an intensive moisture treatment use pure vitamin E, or aloe vera oil. It is available in liquid form, or just break open a capsule and apply the oil directly to the skin.

Those are eight simple steps that would help you keep your face clean and beautiful. Start today for a more refreshed and beautiful you.
