topical treatments and pregnancy

Is it true that even topical treatments for acne are not good to use if you are pregnant or want to become pregnant?

I think there can be a risk. I always think it is better not to use OTC or RX medicines of any type during pregnancy unless necessary and approved by your doctor.

I don't know what products are or aren't dangerous, but doctors have a complete list by "Class" in terms of potential damage to a fetus. I would ask about anything and everything in terms of topical or oral meds.

I have heard from my doctor that you many don't recommend using topical treatments while pregnant, but my doctor said that it won't cause any problems in low doses once a day. He said you usually just need to show the medication to your doctor and get a straight opinion from him for that specific medication.

I think it is probably not a good thing to use it while you are pregnant but that is because taking any type of medication is not good while you are pregnant. If you absolutely have to it will probably be ok if you only take a small dose.
