Laser Resurfacing

Laser resurfacing is a very effective and better way to remove acne scars but the thing is that it is costly. I do not think many of the youngsters can afford it.

Do you know if this procedure is covered by most health insurance policies? It seems like so many things are deemed to be cosmetic procedures and therefore not covered, but acne scars can have such an emotional impact on a person that I think this should be covered.

What would you say is the average cost of laser resurfacing. How is it different then other procedures and where would one look for more information regarding this procedure.

Hi again!
It is said that insurance does not cover laser resurfacing because it is an elective cosmetic surgery. I have just researched about it. I hope I answered your question.

I am not really sure how much it costs. I think it depends on your place/what country you are in. I think the difference of this from other procedures is that it removes the skin very precisely, layer by layer, resulting in fewer problems with hypopigmentation (lightening of skin).

It is very expensive plus i think it is very dangerous and contains a lot of side effects. It needs a lot of care after you do the laser treatment so if anyone goes for it. Better be sure you have consulted a good doctor and good treatment kits are used for the skin.

Couldn't you convince your doctor or dermatologist to convince the Insurance company that it is a safety issue? Scares can be may infected or make you more prone to infections? Or you can tell your doctor it itches a lot and you are tempted to pick at them making them bleed.

Isn't it possible that you would need more than one of these treatments? I was looking into something like this and 1 treatment is expensive... I couldn't imagine having to get multiple!
