Skin Cancer

Skin Cancer is a big problem in many countries, so I was wondering, if we already have a scar (from acne for example), do the chances of having skin cancer on that area increase?
Does anyone know that?

I did a Google search and didn't come up with any mention of scars of any type being a contributor to skin cancer. There were a few studies involving skin cancer and acne treatments, however.

AS far as I know scarring itself will not cause skin cancer or increase your risk of skin cancer.

Cancer is caused my cells regenerating at an abnormal speed, if I recall. I doubt a scar could turn cancerous, if that was the case, everyone would die from a stubbed toe.

Some chemicals can trigger cancer, but I don't know which ones do and which ones don't.

I don't think that a scar would increase your risk of skin cancer as cancer is caused by a gene mutation that causes a cell to divide rapidly without stopping. I thinkt hat peoplle with acne are just at risk as people without acne.

I'll have to agree with everyone else. I haven't come across a case of acne scars causing skin cancer yet so I think anyone here with acne scars would have just as much chance of getting skin cancer than people who don't
