Dermabrasion

I've read that a skin that is badly scarred can be planed down by dermabrasion. Has anyone tried or heard about this treatment? Does it really work?

This procedure is used for badly scarred skin. What i have heard from people who have done this procedure is that it is very painful and is done under anaesthesia, in which the patient is still partly conscious.
Moreover the healing process takes several months for the skin to regrow.

wow that spounds drastic for sure not to mention painful. Is it the same as a skin peel, you know like plastic surgeons do? I bet it is effective though.

I would be scarred incase it went wrong, what do you think? would you have it done?

Dermabrasion is not as complex as a plastic surgery but the pain and time required for healing is longer when compared to plastic surgery.

I know you people arn't experts but is it just the top layer of skin they remove or is it rubbed off or stripped some how? I imagine it like a great big facial graze like when you graze your knee. Painful all those nerve endings

I think dermabrasion only removes the epidermal (outer) layer of the skin. This abrasive or planing action will improve your skin contour, then, a new layer of skin replaces the treated skin which will have a smoother appearance.

Microdermabrasion vrs Dermabrasion

I've done microdermabrasion with good results, but dermabrasion sounds so much more painful. They pretty much say that it'll be two weeks until you can resume normal life, and 6 months to to be healed and able to be in sunlight.
