I have been fighting acne since a very young teenage age. The acne come and go. Just when I thought i was better it comes back.

I have recently read an article about acne treatment and it seems very reasonable.

My doctor gave me this product "benzoyl perozide" ...spelling may be incorrect. In the article that i read it says this is a good treatment.
It also said Salicylic acid is a good treatment...but I don't have that..so I'm using the perscription of Benzoyl that my doctor gave me.

Just wondering how to really use it..cause the container doesnt' state specifically how to use it...just says to use Day and Night on infected area. The bottle also said "topical gel".
Do I have to wash off the product? or do I rub it in until the "gel" disappears?
Also I ready you shouldn't use products with alcohol...My "erythromycin-benzoyl peroxide topical gel" has

-30mg erythromycin
-50mg (5%)benzyl peroxide in a base of purified water
-carbomer
-alcohol20%
-sodium hydroxide NF
-docusate sodium and fragrance

So far my treatment of my Acne is

1.Benzoly perozide Day/Night
2.Don't touch face
3.Wash face with Warm water (not hot) with Hands


Is there anything else I can do?

What I can tell you is I used Proactiv to no avail, and tons of other over the counter products, which all have salylic acid or benzoyl peroxide in it, so I am not a fan of those products. But I have read many reviews from others saying how it's helped them, so I can't hate just because it didn't work for me.

I can tell you FaceDoctorRx worked for me. It's a chinese soap and I found it at my local healthfood store. I think it's like $20.00 a bar, but one bar lasts me three months, and I wash my face twice a day, so it lasts a long time. I've used it for the last two years and it has worked better than all the perscription drugs combined, check it out.
