True, the ghost writer (Andrew Neiderman I believe?) is really aiming for a younger audience, and that's disappointing. I'm actually re-reading the Heaven series, I really like that one too, the prequel is heartbreaking.

Interesting….they put their recipes in the book. So, with these books you get a great story and a recipe for dinner later. Sounds like a real time saver. I will have to check these books, thanks.

I think I have heard of the books by Dina Mott Davidson. Her books sound similar to the ones by Janet Evanovich, who I also love. Is that the writer I am thinking of?

I do not read a lot now but I used to do it a lot until some time ago, my favorite writer for books is still Jack Kerouac and I love some quotes from Francis Bacon

Juliet McKenna wrote some really good fantasy novels, like The Thiefs Gamble, which is the first book in a series of 5, each with 400-500 pages in it. And let me tell you, she's a damn good writer.

Isn't "Ruby" the one set in New Orleans ?
Funny that you should mention Flowers in the Attic. I wrote an online review of that novel - gave it a "thumbs up" - in a customer review site and it's one of my most-read pieces ever.

Hi AusQtie! (love the nickname, by the way!)

I suppose my tastes in books are more, shall we say, masculine or nerdy, depending on what books we're talking about. I prefer the term "Walter Mitty-like" to be honest.

In the non-fiction front I'm reading Rick Atkinson's The Day of Battle and re-reading Cornelius Ryan's The Longest Day.

On the fiction front it's a bit more varied, yet still very guy-oriented. Tom Clancy's old novel about World War III, Red Storm Rising, Steve Perry and Michael Reaves' Death Star, and Stephen King's It.

Sometimes I'll read Anais Nin's The Delta of Venus, a collection of erotic stories.

I love to read but I don't think anything I have read lately is a new book. I trade books with my grandmother and others who also enjoy reading and many are older used books.

Yeah, "Flowers In the Attic" was written ages ago but it is still extremely popular. It has a lot of taboo topics mixed in with a brilliant writer, and that almost always make a brilliant book, or at least a book that is talked about for years and years and years.

"Flowers in the Attic" was brilliant, I think. Did anybody happen to see the movie? Absolutely horrible in comparison with the book. Still, I ended up buying it. I heard that they are making movies to coincide with other books from VC Andrews, they already made one for Rain, and they are making one for the Landry series.
