I, for one, haven't seen Flowers in the Attic. The book I have has a still taken from it, either on the front cover or back, but given all the negative reactions to the movie adaptation, I don't think I want to

I mean, if you are a serious fan, I would check it out anyway. I got a few good laughs from it, I mean it wasn't a total waste. The movie for the book Rain was actually better than the the Flowers in the Attic movie.

I read a lot of fantasy books and horror novels. Some of the authors I read a lot of are; Stephan King, J.k. Rowling, and Toilken. I find fantasy books are like an escape from reality. They are fun to read.

There are some fantasy and horror novels that are excellent reads, like those by Stephen King and JK Rowling. Fantasy has just never really been my thing though, for some reason I could never really get into Lord of the Rings.

I enjoy reading mystery books, a bit of horror and some types of fantasy.

I thought that J.K. Rowling was an excellent writer for the Harry Potter series which I got really hooked into.

Do you have any books that you recommend to read?

I have to admit that I had a hard time getting into The Lord of the Rings in its literary incarnation. I like the story just fine...it's just the presentation that gives me a hard time, with all the poems and songs and stuff. Once I saw the films I "got" the books a bit better.

Yep, I saw the movie. It like a Disney movie compared the book. I did think the grandmother in the movie did a good job, but other than that the book just blows it away. I can't wait for the Landry series to be main into movies. Do you if it is in the works? I can't remember Rain for the of me. What was that one about?

I am so excited to hear about somebody else reading V C Andrews. I love this thread.

The grandmother did a great job, but I was so disappointed by how much they toned down the romance between Cathy and Chris. Even if I don't like that they are brother and sister, that would have made the movie just so much edgier, and more like the book which was incredible.

The Landry series is one of my favorites, I especially liked the book about Gabrielle, I think I just feel like I relate to her. It is suppoesd to be in the works, supposedly as a Lifetime mini series. This is the only link I could find for the Landry series, "The Landry" (2008) (mini).

Rain is the story of the African American girl who finds out that her mother is actually a white woman with a lot of money, and her father lives in England. She likes to act, I believe, and ride horses. She gets in a horse accident and ends up in a wheelchair. I think it's a semi-newer one, but I like it because I think it mirrors a lot of VC's own thoughts. She was confined to a wheel chair for a large chunk of her life too.

By the way, I decided to start a V C Andrews thread so we can talk about other books here. I don't want to have to mix up the the conversations and plug this thread up.
