Families and Christmas

You've probably seen some of the movies where families are forced to get together at Christmas, and it's disastrous because they're so dysfunctional. Is your family at all like that? Mine is in a very low-key way. Some of us don't see each other except during the holidays, and the reason is that we truly don't like each other much.

My family is okay. I know my boyfriend is not thrilled about spending all weekend at their house, but that is just part of being a boyfriend. I will get to listen to my Grandma tell us how she will be dying soon (dying soon for the last 10yrs). See my mom spoil her hyper dog and think her dog is so much better than my puppy Miles. Listen to complaining and misunderstandings. However, Saturday my boyfriend and I will go out with my best friend from elementary school and drink enough to hopefully not be bothered by all the arguing Sunday.

I am leaving Friday with my boyfriend to visit both of our families. His family is... different, as is mine. My mom and grandma hate my grandpa, my step-dad drinks a lot (because of stress, he's not an alcoholic btw), my little brother thinks he is Japanese (literally), my grandma has a boyfriend who is years younger than her, and my aunt is dating a British guy who really hasn't met any of us yet.

We used to go to some big family Christams party from my father's side of the family. We stopped going though beecause the parties got old. There was never anything going on and just a waste of time.

Well every year we get together with close relatives and this year my aunt and uncle are coming over for a visit from quite a far ways so it will be nice toi see them again.I have a few family parties to go to which are always really enjoyable. So for my part I'd say that my family is pretty good at Christmas time.
