I love this site!!! I was very active on it daily Back in 2001 to 2002. It was great to communicate with people that understood what all of us go through. I did Acccutane and had GREAT if not PHENOMINAL but temporary results. I did Salicylic Acid but had to deal with dryness. I did St. Ives for years with so-so results. Hibiclens was alright. Murad did almost nothing. Cold water washes did nothing. Steam did nothing too. Neutrogena...see mega Salicylic Acid above. Mega dosing Panthotenic Acid seems okay...for fat loss. Diet?..none.
I am a horny person, sweat a lot and love sweets. The worse for me and the best and fastest way for a massive cystic breakout!!! Accutane was my favorite!!! I could rub lard on my face mixed with mop water and will not get a single breakout(I did do it as an experiment...)!!! The thing is that Accutane gave me red eyes and elevated liver enzymes after being on it for several years. It did give me happiness and a $150 co-pay. So who cares? I had clear skin! But one day my doctor said ENOUGH. What was I suppose to do?
Then I tried Pro Activ. This was when no one really promoted it except the inventors. In 2 weeks my face cleared up. I belong to a family that will have ACNE until age 50. So I continue to use it.
Now I use it just twice a week and have ordered the kit only every 6 mos. I use the soap daily(once a day) and when it runs out, I use J&J's Clean & Clear Benzoyle Peroxide wash(it's a purple tube...). The only thing I hate about it is the bleaching crap! I have kids and love to hug them. But I seem to be ruining their clothes off/on. But I got used to it.
I believe Benzoyle Peroxide is worth a shot. It does not matter what brand. As long as you use a non-comedogenic toner and a moisturizer AND Sun Block(I moved from NY to HI), you should be fine.
