some acne treatments

Other acne treatments target the various causes of acne. They're often used in combination. These acne treatments include:

* Azelaic acid cream
* Alpha-hydroxy acids (including glycolic acid, lactic acid, and gluconic acid)
* Benzoyl peroxide
* Topical antibiotics (gels, lotions, and solutions)
* Antibiotic pills (haphazard use may lead to antibiotic resistance)
* Birth control pills for women
* Accutane or Sotret for severe acne

Accutane and Sotret can cause birth defects. Women who opt for this treatment must use foolproof birth control. Despite this and other concerns, these drugs are the treatment of choice for severe acne.

It is because of what is in those pills that the body should be getting but does not. I think that these treatments are often over rated and over priced.

Azelex

I am currently pregnant and on Azelex. As long as it is applied twice a day, everyday it works but if you run out you pretty much breakout the next day. Plus sometimes it's harder to find. I use it with %10 Benzoyl Peroxide on any ance that is forming and it helps. I also have white bumps on my arms that I have heard are related to my hay fever allergies but that respond really well to the Azelex.
