Birth control pills are often used to prevent acne in teenage girls though, and some are even prescribed these pills when they are not even sexually active. I think it just depends on the person, because everybody's body reacts differently to drugs.

Some drugs for acne are prescribed by a dermatologist. They are the ones who know what is good for our skin. But some drugs may also cause acne and make it worse. It is not prohibited to use drugs but it is best to consult your dermatologist.

Yes, you may use birth control pills to prevent or cure acne. However, the kind of pill that you will use will depend on the kind of hormonal imbalance that you have. The use of these pills should also be consulted to a doctor because there are different causes of acne, not just hormonal imbalance.

I believe in trying natural remedies before drugs, but there are times when prescription treatments are the only things that will work. I do think that a person should wean themselves off from the prescription later on if at all possible.

Hi,
I know that some people really do need some help with prescription drugs to help them heal up their acne problems, but many do not need it and try to take the easy way out. With the use of each drug/medication comes risks. Each person needs to know what the risks are for the medication they are wanting to take before taking it. With some of the prescribed acne medications, drug manufactures have made it harder for doctors to prescribe the medications that can cause the person problems. They have made it so the doctor or their representative has to review the risks along with the person has to have a blood test to make sure that the medication is not damaging their organs. I use to work in a doctor's office and was the representative who had to teach them plus call in to the drug manufacture to authorize the person for another month then they would have to take their card to the pharmacy to pick up their medications. If the person did not come to see us that month or did not do the required blood work, I could not authorize their medication. |
