Depression

Do any of you know any teenagers who have gotten depressed over their acne problems. I know teenagers are very self consious about the way they look. Girls in particular. They probably would call themselves ugly and get sensitive about their acne.

When I was a teen I had a friend like that, he wouldn't go out nor do anything because of his pimples, but well, he really had them in excess, he needed medical help!

Yeah well people think about the way people look way too much, I'm not surprised that he does not want to leave his house, if all he is going to get is abuse from people. People would get depressed and think they are ugly if people start to harass them about their acne.

Everyhing is about appearance and popularity when you are a teen, and other kids can be so cruel. It is no wonder kids with acne get depressed. All you can do is try to help them get the best treatment possible and try to keep them busy and involved with things they enjoy.

I do not know many teenagers right now, but I know when I was in school I felt that way. Whenever my face broke out I thought I was ugly. I remember my friends and me trying to use make-up to cover the pimple and it looking caked on and even more obvious. Teasing hurts, especially when it is about something out of your control.

I have never known anyone to be severely depressed but yes some teenagers do feel very down in the dumps and have less confidence when they have acne.

that is true, and that is so bad, kids can be really cruel with the other ones that have acne, but that's weird, because very very soon they're gonna have it too lol

I have had a couple of friends who were depressed and missed out on a lot of after-school activities over their acne. It's a shame.

I can see tha happening where a teen will decide not to go to a dance or might shy away from dating because they are bummed out about their acne.
